I never really sat down and thought about what roles I’d like to do in the future. And since I am about to go to college for this, playing my dream roles seem more realistic to me. So here they are:
Belle in Beauty and the Beast- I’d like to know any girl who does not want to be Belle. It’s a great part, it’s a great show, and it’s a great score.
Emcee in Cabaret- As much as I love the part of Sally Bowles, Emcee is a fabulous part. I can be insane on stage and break the 4th wall, it just sounds like a lot of fun to do eight shows a week.
April in Company- I want to play the ditz! She is just so adorable. Amy is also another role I’d love to take on. Her number steals the show every time. But April has always caught my eye as the role to take on in this show.
Ariel in The Little Mermaid- The little girl inside of me needs to pursue my lifelong dream of being Ariel. And hey, doing it on stage will hit two birds with one stone!
Eva Peron in Evita- Gah. Enough said!
Luisa in The Fantasticks- This is a little bit of a stretch for me with the whole my-look-doesn’t-make-me-look-innocent issue, but I love the show, and I think it will make my Ela very happy to see me in that show.
Fanny Brice in Funny Girl- If I can perform this role, I will study her religiously. End of story. This charactor is so complex, from being a young, quirky comedian with the audience rolling on the floor laughing, to a vulnerable woman, heartbroken. I love it.
Cinderella/The Witch in Into The Woods- What I like about this show is that Cinderella is shown being not an innocent woman, but more mature. And the witch is also complex; an evil sorceress who is also a loving mother. It’s a challenge I want to take.
Lucy in Jekyll and Hyde- So. Effing. Good. I would say Emma, but this part is more relatable I think. That, and Lucy is more fitting to my look I think. And hey, I always wanted to play a role where I die on stage!
Cathy in The Last Five Years- It is so demanding vocally, and emotionally. You first see her at the end of the relationship, and at the end you see her after experiencing her first kiss with Jaimie. It’s a pretty damn good part.
Eponine/Cosette in Les Miserables- This show has so many badass roles for women, Eponine would have been the last part I’d want in the show. However, I love her character, and I can easily relate to her. Cosette is a bit of a stretch, but gosh I love the high notes. Love them.
Clara in Light in the Piazza- A 26 year old woman with a mental disability? Sign me up!
Anne/Charlotte/Petra in Little Night Music- I was obsessed with this show. Obsessed. I love Anne’s part since, again, it’s relatable. Charlotte’s part is just so fun! A semi-depressed woman forced to go to her husband’s mistress’s home on her birthday!? Priceless. And I’d love to play Petra just because she knows she’s sexy and she uses it to enjoy life. Fabulous show.
Liza in My Fair Lady- I almost performed in this show for my senior year, but they decided to do a different production. My heart sank into a deep despair, but from that day on I intend to play that part within my lifetime. Even if I am using walker!
Christine in Phantom of the Opera- DONE AND DONE. This will make my father’s life complete; this will make half of my life complete.
Mother/Evelyn Nesbit in Ragtime- I would love to play Evelyn based on her quirkiness and major sex appeal. Later on when I’m older I’d love to play Mother. Fingers crossed!
Maria in Sound of Music- I performed in this show as a nun five years ago. I’d like to think that the next time I am in this show, I am the leading lady.
Wendla in Spring Awakening- Being realistic, I have to admit I will probably not play this role, but I can still dream, right?
Dot in Sunday in the Park…- My parents hate this show, but I LOVE it! One of my favorites by far.
Tobias in Sweeney Todd- Yep. I love the part. And I think I can kick some ass in that role based on my love for the part. My friend Jack will be so jealous of me, but love me at the same time when I sing our song.
Maria in West Side Story- I grew up with this show, it’s in my blood I just have to do it.
Elphaba/Glinda in Wicked- My voice screams Glinda, but my look screams Elphaba. If I ever do that show I’ll just switch hats…and skin color. This will complete my mama’s life complete; this will make the other half of my life complete.
